Primera costura: Búho / First sewing project: Owl

Pirañita (5 years old) came to me yesterday asking to sew a doll.

I explained to her that the first thing that she needed was a pattern. She went straight to work and made her own templates and transferred them to the felt that I gave her (she wanted to use all my fabrics but I told her that we would start with felt).

Of course, she drew the circle in the middle of the felt sheet and then the leftovers were too small for the next one. She solved it sewing two scratches together to fit a circle in there.

Under my supervision, she sewed the body with the sewing machine all by herself. I turned it and she filled it and closed it with the sewing machine again. I told her to sew together the right sides but, when we turned it, the sewing allowance of the second circle was showing. No problem. It is officially decorative.

After that, she added the details. Again, she wanted access to all my adhesive fabrics and didn't have a plan to cut them. I gave her just one piece and explained to her how to allocate the templates to use the fabric in a smart way. She is very focused and did it awesomely.

Finally, she added googly eyes stuck with fabric glue.

¿A que mi niña es una artista?

Isn't my girls a great artist?

Cachorrito said that she also wanted to do a project, which means that we should have something coming up sooner than later.
